Open Mic Day on BnB

Happy Friday! I'm working on next book plus day job plus I have book signings/fair/conferences to attend for the next four weekends. We're in hustle mode round here. For my Dallas folks, if you get a second tomorrow come visit me (and 50 other authors) at the Tulisoma Book Fair at the African American Art Museum in Fair Park.

And now to you... What's on your mind today? The football season is about to kick off - what's your team looking like? Kids gone back to school yet? Are you starting a new semester? Summer's winding down, any plans for the fall? For the weekend? Hear any good music lately? Any final thoughts as we call this week a wrap?

Feel free to share. Have a great weekend!

I got a new job! :-) I'm super excited because I've been trying to get out of my current one for 2 years. So as a small celebration I'll be in Miami this weekend...and leaving before the storm hits.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Three weeks left in this quarter for me and I'm ready for a 2-week break.  Preparing to do some redecorating ... painters will be here on Monday!  Ending a 21-day fast on Saturday and Sunday I will be enjoying smothered pork chops and everything else that was banned.  Life is good!

I've been traveling all summer and I finally get to work from home for the next two months. Happiness!
On a BnB note - am I the only one waiting for Shawn to jump out of a corner and say Boo!

I got nothing, my brain and spirit are fried! Shoving this week out the door and saying don't come back! Wishing I was on my couch snuggled up with a blanket letting my TV watch me sleep!

Happy Friday!

Gonna have a loooooooong weekend, do some babysitting, work on my MPA/MPP professionals website, and just chill!

November 6 has me reeeeal nervous.  Obeezy has his work cut out, but even more, I feel the apathy from people.  We are so short-sighted.   'Tis scary.   And damnit, why is my uterus up for debate????  Boo hiss.

Trying to avoid politics and other things that make me sick to my stomach right now. Work has chilled out for the first time in (no joke) 3.5 years, so I'm enjoying a little downtime this summer. Chele, I read your new book last week. A fun read, and some hotness for sure. *fans self*

Saw Mary J. Blige and D'Angelo on Tuesday night. Mary J had us eating out of her hand, but D'Angelo KILLED IT. That band is tight (and he has Kendra Foster from the p-funk crew singing with him now). Looking forward to D's new album, if he ever finishes it.

I saw D'Angelo 12 years ago and he killed it then; that is one of my all time favorite concerts.  He is so talented so I hope he can get back into his groove.

My semester has started and I am not ready to go back to work.  Boo hiss!

I'm going to take a few questions...

The football season is about to kick off - what's your team looking like? Commitment To Excellence
Kids gone back to school yet? Daughter started her senior of high school (Where did THAT time go????)
Hear any good music lately? Radio Music Society - Esperanza Spalding If you don't have it you need to. We caught her live this week with Anita Baker. Amazing!
Any final thoughts as we call this week a wrap? There has not been a hurricane to hit Tampa FL in over ninety years. The repubs are having their convention there next week and it looks like Hurricane Isaac has Tampa in his cross hairs. Can you say Katrina moment? Like old folks say, God don't like ugly...

PS. Seems to me any quality book tour must have a Los Angeles stop...IJS

Ok so I have no problems with apologizing when I'm wrong. Well maybe I do sometimes....but anyway! Turns out this week is ending on a better note than I cursed it for earlier. Not sure if that means next week will be all that I'm praying for, but God is in control and I must apologize to Him for cursing this day. I will continue to pray for His favor!

We're both in Houston but haven't met....What's up with that?

Summer ended for us when my daughter began her junior year of high school at the end of July (year-round school).  The weekend is looking like relaxation because I refuse to do anything other than that. :-)

It's the tag end of winter, here, with spring still only a hint of a promise. Still, we'll be hitting our first farmer's market tomorrow. I've been dying to have access to fresh growing things, so I hope we'll come home with a bag full of produce and a better idea of what I can plant on our tiny little balcony to satisfy my cravings for greenery and fresh food both. Past the weekend, well, it's immigration paperwork time. Not exactly fun, but satisfying; we've reached the end of the prospective marriage visa, and now have only to deal with the real spouse visas -- we're growing up.

Good end to a very trying week. Came to work today to a bonus check and a pay increase! That always starts the weekend off right. I wish there was a Bougie meet up in ATL....

Hows my football team doing?? We're the Cowboys baby we own this <<< may come to regret this statement by the end of the season. But I can hope.

For fall I ahve some fun stuff lined up and I can't wait to get on them. Clicking things off the bucket list is always fun!!

Yeah, Chele; I knew that tale of late night fu-- nevermind -- shenanigans was a prelude to a new book.  Well played, madam.
