It's that time again... Fall TV premiere week

I can't do it this year, ya'll. I can't. Year after year, I get all excited about new shows and the possibility of more than two black fleeting faces in support roles. The only show I will absolutely commit to this year is The Good Wife. Okay, I'll probably watch Boardwalk Empire too. As for the new shows? I haven't been paying too much attention.

I notice there is a fresh crop of "strong white female" cop shows a la The Closer. I hate when Hollywood takes one good idea and runs it into the ground. Nor will I be watching Broke Chicks, Whitney or New Girl. I'm not totally against White Chick Angst Disguised As Comedy shows but someone would have to sell me on them first.

Here are two new offerings from ABC:

There's a new Charlie's Angels:

Kerry Washington comes to TV in a Shonda Rhimes' (Grey's) vehicle, Scandal:

Thoughts? What are we watching this season and why? What looks good?

Boardwalk Empire...how I missed thee. I will definitely be watching the new season.

I still haven't given up on Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. I wish I had stuck with Private Practice, I heard it's good.

The Good Wife, I can't remember why I stopped watching but I wish I hadn't. Either there was a time slot change or perhaps because it's on CBS. I don't watch CBS at all it seems.

I might give the new Pan Am show a try. There really aren't any new shows on my radar tho.

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice (thrice.....)

I'm over network television and its constant fall dance. They woo me, get me into shows and then cancel without a second thought. I realized how bad it was last night when I could barely watch 15 minutes of the Emmys because I don't watch (or care) about any of the shows featured. I may give that show with Kerry Washington a try but I'm over ABC for its abhorrent treatment of "All My Chidren".  Football season has started - I'll watch that and wait patiently for USA Network  November return of  In Plain Sight, Burn Notice, Covert Affairs & Neccesary Roughness (which has turned out to be a pretty good show).

I like the "Scandal" trailer (concept is interesting), so I'll check it out, but "Charlie's Angels" uh NO!  I'm a die hard fan of "The Good Wife" and definitely committed to the new season.  My other shows are Criminal Minds, NCIS & NCIS Los Angeles.

And the final episodes of the Closer.

Castle, The Walking Dead, Luther (when it comes on BBC America), Downton Abbey, Modern Family and Game of Thrones. Might try this Scandal show since Kerry is in it and I like her and Pan Am cause it looks fun. Otherwise, I'll be streaming Intelligence (the Canadian version of The Wire) and catching up on MI6 via Netflix.

agreed on Covert Affairs, Necessary Roughness and the Closer. Oh yeah , I like Rizzoli and Isles too

There's a whole batch of witchy/vampire/paranormal shows that I will be ignoring.
Are they bringing back Breakout Kings? I liked that. Leverage will be back in November.
Luther.
I think I've quit Grey's, the CSIs and NCIS's for now.
USA, TNT and HBO had great programming this summer.

Fringe, Boardwalk Empire.

Hmm...let's see:

Boardwalk Empire - already scheduled in my DVR
Criminal Minds - they are bringing back JJ and Prentiss!
Law and Order: SVU - No more Stabler, though
The Office - Too funny!
30 Rock - Alec Baldwin is insane and Tracy Morgan is so unpredictable

So tired of the new crop of shows starring an 82-pound White lady running around kicking ass, solving crime, and dealing with life's angst all while wearing stilettos and pouting. I just cannot any more. Charlie's Angels - miss me with that one.

I haven't heard of Scandal so it should be interesting.

BTW - does anyone know when Dexter comes back?

I also intend to check out the How to Make it in America show, it looks interesting!

Scandal looks interesting, I will check that out.  I am determined to stay caught up on Boardwalk Empire this time, lol!

I am absolutely tired of seeing more and more new shows that have no REAL racial diversity.

I just can't with most of these new shows that have been announced and some of the old ones like Greys Anatomy are probably going to be a FAIL for me this go 'round.  I will watch The Good Wife, NCIS, Criminal Minds and give the new Kerry Washington show a chance but for the most part network TV is ehh at best.

Jazzy Jazz said...

I shall stick to CSI : NY and the original version, NCIS ( Love LL but dont like the LA version ) , Greys , House , and the USA network. I am not a K. Washington fan , so I probably wont tune into that show.

So, I just watched the preview for "Scandal"!  Who knew Shonda had another show coming out!  I love Kerry and I LOVE Columbus Short, so I'll be watching.  And I'm excited about "Law and Order:SVU" on Wednesday, even though Stabler is gone... :(  OH, and I caught the new Sarah Michelle Gellar show "Ringer" last week; I actually liked it.

I'ma do what I can for Scandal.  It's either going to be amazingly epic or not so much.  I do mess with Shonda Rhimes, but her shows just... they do weird things in the end.

I'm also going to give Law & Order:SVU a shot with all these new folks and no Christopher Meloni... but I have no doubts that after 1, MAYBE 2 eps, I'ma chuck the deuce.  I'm a purist in all the wrong areas.

Finally, I'm excited for The Good Wife.

Now I'm talking all this yah yah yah, but y'all know I'm in school and whatnot.  I'ma basically miss ALL these shows. :)

Boardwalk Empire and The Good Wife for me as well.  I will check out the first couple of episodes of "Reed Between the Lines" on BET (yes, I know) to see what it's about. Joan Clayton, err, Traci Ellis Ross and Malcolm Jamal Warner seem like a good look for a family sitcom.  I may also watch let's stay together when it repeats during weekend cleaning sessions.

Breakout Kings! Yaaaaassss!!!

Games of Thrones. Winter is coming...

Let's see I'll be watching How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, 2.5 Men, Mike and Molly, and Terra Nova on Monday. NCIS, NCIS LA, and Unforgettable on Tuesday.  Criminal Minds on Wednesday.  Big Bang Theory, Once Upon a Time, Prime Suspect on Thursday. A Gifted Man and Fringe on Friday.  Doctor Who/Merlin/Misfits on Saturday.  Spooks, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife on Sundays.  Yes I will be watching entirely too much television, and yes I am a pirate.  Argh, I watch Brit TV the same day they do!

mojitochica said...

Luther was fabulous but too short.  However it will be back for a third season!
