I was watching Oprah's Season 25: Behind the Scenes and she keyed in on the fact that the show has been the great love of her life. My first thought was... what about Stedman? And my second thought was - what's been the great love of my life? And who?
Well, let's define it first -for something (or someone) to be the love of your life they must enrich you, beguile you, challenge you, fulfill you and claim your heart and soul in such a way that keeps you engaged year after year. Now that's love.
Hmm, a few years ago I could have told you who but now that answer is... a work in progress shall we say. If I was forced to pick a who - I'd have to go with BougieFam... for now. But check back in, that's subject to change. As for what? Books. The reading of them, the learning from them and the writing of them - that's been the great love of my life.
What about you, BougieLand? Who is the great love of your life? What is the great love of your life? Why? Do share...

Hell, I'M the love of my life. I take a lot of work. As for the what? That's easy. Books. From the time I was 4, reading has been the one thing I can't do without.
I would have to say that sports have been the love of my life do to the length and breadth of our affair, but being a parent has taken over in recent years.
The what for me I would have to say books and politics. The who... er... uh.. um.. This .can't. be.good.
My daughter is the great love of my life.
The What? Hmmm - still working on that.
Who? I love me some me.
What? Women. No, Music. Women who play music? Women with music playing in da background? One of the two.
The person who is the greatest love of my life is me, myself and I. This is followed closely by my family. The one thing I love is cooking and seeing the enjoyment on folks face when they taste my food. This followed closely by my love for traveling and learning about different cultures.
The love of my life is Mya. As for the what I would have to say helping people. I get great joy out of that! Note to self: I need to do more, I've been slacking!
The love of my life...I feel like I have a few...the power of words and learning. Without the power and my love of words I know that I would not be the person that I am today.
The spouse and the kiddo are irreplaceable. The spouse is one in a million. It has been a wonderful journey with the kiddo.
Lastly, my late dog Beamer, he was my first dog ever and was the best ever, I still think about him. :-(
I have a passion for creating elegant events, I live for the “presentation,” the before and after photos, the talking, laughing, and energy of fellowship. That “high” gets me as pumped as a major victory in the courtroom in my day job.
I think my mama, daddy and sisters are a given. They are the best. Since we all are Tuskegee University graduates with three of us there at the same time & we’ve never missed a Homecoming since childhood (it’s like our Thanksgiving/Christmas meet up), I have so many memories and experiences tied up there that makes that institution a great love of my life.
My ex-husband was the great romantic love of my life, though he might have proved himself unworthy of it. What happened to us doesn’t change the fact that he was . . . so much to me at the time.
And I can understand why Oprah listed her show, it seemed to truly be her baby.
Learning and teaching has been the great love of my life.
And I am a daddy's girl - he's been my great love up to now.
My family.. unless one of you lovely ladies would like to apply for the position?
Underneath all this sexy, I'm a math geek - numbers have always and continue to fascinate me.
So far, the love of my life has been my family.
Check it out ladies - the man is advertising...
I wold have to say so far - my mom and school have been it. Lord, I need to live a little more!
I'm marrying the love of my life in three weeks.
And really - life has been the love of my life.
It's awesome.
Next to me and my family, I am about to marry my life's love that is, if it is in the form of a person. But something? I'm still discovering new things I fall in love with almost every day.
I think I'm going to keep myself as my great love.
As for the what - dance. Until I can't even tap a pinky toe anymore.
I'll go w/my late husband as the love of my life. I learned so much
The internet is the what for me. I LOVE learning and the internet puts so much at my fingertips. I can't imagine life without it.
music is probably the love of my life. and books.
Learning, without doubt, is the love of my life, not only as the one seeking to find ways to understand, but also as one who seeks to foster that same seeking in those whom I teach. I almost said books, too, but I realized that even as a voracious reader and aspiring author, that's only one window into the love that grips me heart, mind, and soul.
As for who, well, that story has yet to be written...
Off the planet? God. He is so merciful to me and were it not for Him....Smh. In the physical? My daughter is the love of my life. I fall more in love with her everyday. She's only 4, but I struggle to remember life before my heart was so totally captivated by her. She's the "who." The "what" would be books. Similar to another poster, I started at 4 and have yet to stop. :)
The what? Reading -- books have been my friends, sometimes my only friends, since before I could talk. The who? ... I cannot possibly pick just one, any more than I could pick just one book. My children top the list, though, especially my firstborn.
Stedman is Oprah's beard...IJSAnyway, my daughter is the love of my life. I'm not saying that to be cliche but I chose to keep her even though my family was upset because "I would shame the family!" what.the.he##.everShe inspires me each and every day. When you see me, you see her. I love her more than life itself. ::tears::As for my greatest love, it's a work in progress. French country interior design/decor is a close second.
At this point my daddy is the love of my life. I love both of my parents but I am an unabashed daddy's girl, always have been, always will be. As for the what, I would have to say knowledge. I love learning new things and have a brain full of random trivia facts. I try to learn something everyday.
IMO Great love of your life is something you say near the end of your life. You have to compare them all to see who reigns.
My mother (so far)
and Sports
These are excellent questions to which I have no answers at this time... Food for thought
I see you, Jay..
I swear this was my response...but I will substitute men for where you put women..Lawd knows I luv my iPod..
I luvs me some me..
and I luvs me some music..!!
I'm open to sharing both..
The what? - History and books
The who? - besides God, not there yet.
**Waves at Jay! I teach statistics is that math enough for you??
The who? God, family and open to the universe for the future love of my life
The what? Books, baking and traveling
Who : Jesus and da momma. I know that even when she aggravates me she has my back and is willing to cut someone for her boo.
What : Books and music. I have always loved to read - since I learned how to read at 3. Music makes me feel so much better when I am having a rough time , have a bad attitude or I just need to get lost in my head. What can I say - I spend a lot of time reading and listening to music - Im an only child.
I saw that episode and wondered what it would be like to be that passionate about something or someone. I know it's a cliche but as a mom and GamMa, it goes without saying that my girls are my greatest loves. As she so often does, Auntie O got me thinking much deeper than that but alas it requires a lot more reflection than I can give right now. I'll get back at ya.
Co-sign on the books, baking and traveling...now if only I could find someone to finance my love of travel...
Only children...us and our books = never to be parted!
I don't know about who the love of my life is, hoping to meet him one day. As for what is the love of my life, its what ever I can pour my creativity into. It may be baking, writing, decorating, etc.
Peace, Love and Chocolate,
Tiffany
Mi madre is the love of my life. She irks my nerves when I have to repeat myself 50 million times or when she gets annoyed that I call her...at work... 3, 4 times a day. But no one loves me like Ma.
The What would have to be my Giving/Helping spirit. I am not me without touching someone's life in a positive way. I love to be able to serve others.
Good question...who: my son...what: music....both are a major part of my life.
Who ~ Me. As arrogant as that sounds, the truth is, until you love and appreciate myself, you will continue to accept second or third best in your life; believing that is the best you can do.
What ~ The textile art that I create. I can't go a day without drawing, painting, scribbling, dyeing or screen printing onto some fabric and watching a design come to life.
Hands down, it would my children.
My work. Helping people who cannot help themselves has sustained my soul many a day.
