Bougie Timeout

Quite a week we're having here in BougieLand. After looking over the past few days, it seems a good time for a Bougie Timeout. (Beyond the fact that I don't have a post ready and I'm shutting it down early tonight) Feels like time for a collective BnB "Woo-sah."

Inhale in, exhale out. Repeat. It's an excellent moment to reflect on what we've learned about each other and how much we've grown into a true community.

So much so that we have insiders and those that keep to themselves. We have laws and bylaws and perhaps even a language of our own. We have original founding members and newbies and yes, even an exile or two (6). As we moonwalked into Blogiversary Month (2 years!) here on BnB, I did feel the need to say through it all: Thanks for visiting, thanks for sticking around. More to come.

I just said on Twitter yesterday how entertained I am by the BougieLand regulars. I'm glad I found this place :-)

Bougieland is one of the rare blogs that hasn't devolved into some crass ghetto gossip blog with cursing, name-calling, and all kinds of jack-ass behavior.

I started on Bougieland almost a year ago, and have found even the most controversial posts remain polite (for the most part) and respectful. Even when the posts deal with ratchedness and buffoonery, we are able to keep it light and calm. This can only be attributed to the Bougieland founder and hostess with the mostest (yeah I said mostest!) OneChele. She moderates without being insulting or condescending, while still encouraging free exchange of thoughts, ideas, and humor. But don't get it twisted - you will be blocked and banned if you get out of pocket and can't control yourself (STEVE!) And from what I understand, this blog is directly responsible for some Bougieland love matches (yay!) Black 'n Bougie influenced me to start blogging and is directly responsible for me no longer being a Twitter virgin. ::blushes::

So to Chele and all my Bougieland family - I lift my coffee cup (tequila when I get home) and toast y'all. May we have many more exchanges!

This was a perfect time to relax, relate and Woosah! I've been in BougieLand for a little over a year and it's been great. I've learned somethings, re-evaluated somethings, self evaluated and LMAO. It's been a great ride and I'm looking forward to more fun and thought provoking posts. Congratulations Chele on two years! Keep up the great work!

I see yo' boy Steve deleted his Disqus profile too. Woo-sah for real tho.
I imagine him huddled up somewhere with Lee and UDK wondering where it all went wrong.

I concur.  I have been visiting BnB since last  year and after yesterday saga....   a woosah moment is much needed. Thanks for the good writing. I have learned quite  a few things here.

TiffanyInHouston turned me on to this blog and I've been a fan ever since. I like the topics, the community and the conversation.

I am going to repeat the following:  I so love this blog.  I was hooked after my first reading in March of 2010.  This blog has such a strong community as displayed in Rob's comment yesterday, there has been laughter and thought provoking stories that could only happen to OneChele.
*This blog is proof that outside of my city there are some women with some sense.  (See JK's story, enough said.)
It is summer for the rest of the world, except for here in the Pacific Northwest, enjoy your day if it has sun and woo-sah--'cause yesterday y'all went in!!!
Good morning all!

Rozb, you are one of the best!  I too have started to my own blog due to this one...I co-sign on your post, however I am still not a twitter girl--my girls (my dogs) won't have it, they always need some love.

Disappointed. You took the high road and didn't publish Steve's email to you. I know it was epic ratchet/bish-assedness to the nth degree.
Moving on...

Shut up.  It has not been 2 yrs.

Lawd, I gotta get back into BougieLand... babygirl been MIA 'round here.  Y'all know I been reading and not commenting.

I'm with Trey though, I know that email was epic.  I'm ok if you just wanna publish the highlights... or lowlights as it were. ::blink,blink::

I feel like I walked into the lunchroom after the fight jumped off and the dean removed all the witnesses to the office. Happy 2nd Anniversary Bougieland!

Class move, Chele. Do you, bouge. We'll be around.

I agree with you, rozb. I love it here, even though I don't participate much, I do read often.

I think I need a twitter tutorial because I want to get in on the action but I can't really figure it out ...

CaliGirlED said...

You and me both! I'm on Twitter but I feel like I'm at the skating ring skating on the inside cause the outside crowd skates too fast! LOL

CaliGirlED said...

I think Lee may have bee before my time, but I definitely remember UDK. LOL

God, that poor bastard Lee. EPIC BougieTale of FAIL. Poor dude out there wandering in the blogosphere with no bougie home of his own. HAHAHA!

Natasha Hunter said...

Too funny!

Back home the non-skaters just took off our skates and danced in the middle, may nothave  been bougie but it was fun! As far as tweeting, don't feel bad... if it was skating, I'd be holding on the walls, but admittedly that's by choice.

I really enjoy BnB. There's a good mix in here. I used to cruise through here about a year or so ago and some of the founding peoples were a little too high-post for me, but I would check back because I liked Chele's posts. Now it's just right- I learn some stuff (purple fabuloso) and feel free to say most things on my mind. :)

Did I forget to mention that Mr. Timeout is real easy on the eyes? Real easy.

A universe of caring people engaging in "Soul Food" gatherings cyber-style and share about almost anything and everything.  Chele, thanks for the great posts and being a gracious hostess.  Happy second Blogiversary and enjoy your timeout.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnKQN7TF4hQ

So sad silliness compelled you to go on hiatus.  I've read from the beginning but didn't post until the infamous Usher wedding ratchery.  I love the blog, but on the other hand, I might get work done now.

Natasha Hunter said...

LOL... mad at you cuz I was looking at his hands like "That's the right size, right there."
