I was a die hard Tony! Toni! Toné! fan back in the day (those songs still go hard) but even I didn't foresee the longevity of Raphael Siddiq's career. Brother is talented. As many great concerts as I have seen this year, I missed this one and I heard it was off the chains. Le Sigh.
Anyway, this tune - Good Man
gives off the Classic Vintage Soul vibe that Saddiq manages so well. The video stars Chad Coleman (better known as Cutty from The Wire
) and the ever gorgeous YaYa of America's Next Top Model fame.
Enjoy your weekend. Any other music to shout out today?

Cutty in the video and RayRay Saadiq on vocals? I already love it!
I have a music shout out for Brian Courtney Wilson. Though he sings contemporary gospel, he could definitely do secular music justice. When we were in college he sang a version of "A Song for You" that had women ready to climb on stage with him.

Today would have been Marvin Gaye's 72nd birthday. Here's a track from the Let's Get It On deluxe CD that he did with the Mizell Brothers (Google them. They are responsible for some of the best jazz of the 70's) called "Where Are We Going?" http://swift.fm/LeonX/song/114501/
Double Dipping! This past Thursday was the 25th anniversary of the release of Prince & The Revolution's Parade, the soundtrack to "Under The Cherry Moon." Here's something from the Parade recording sessions. Play it at night and turn off the lights. http://swift.fm/LeonX/song/114504/
It's looking a lot like srpringtime around here :)
Siddiq is amazing.
That's good music.
Love the new design. Whatever happened to Lucy Pearl?
I LOVE this song! I've been playing this on my MP3 player for about two weeks now. I agree, still love Tony! Toni! Toné! I remember watching, "Way Black When" on TV1 during Black History Month, and when I heard "Feels Good" I knew something was off. Raphael wasn't singing the song, but rather some other guy. Let's just say I wasn't too happy to hear that version of the song.
I heard this last week ... good choice!
Good choice!
Big Raphael Saadiq fan. The video was not was not what I expected.
I mean the ending of the story.
I appreciate Brian Courtney Wilson. He has some powerful worship songs.
