I was typing away when out of nowhere it hit. Feeling like I assume a gunshot straight to the temple would. Instantly paralyzing me with pain that radiated down my back. Le Ouch. And three hours later, still Le Ouch. Bougie down y'all. Be back soon. Talk amongst yourselves. And send a prayer my way.

Good luck with the headache! I hope you are feeling better this morning.
I feel your pain. I had one the other day and wanted someone to shoot me as well. Did she say headache? That drives me nuts if people call a migraine a headache.

I hope you feel better soon!
I tell you what, Chele - any lights in the room would be promptly knocked out with a broomstick or other device. With that said, I take Imitrex using a self-injector and for the milder ones, i usually take a couple of packets of orange-flavored Goody's Headache Powders (yeah - old school, but my granddaddy was awesome for giving me this years ago!) with a fizzy drink like a Sprite. Lay it down, and the world becomes at least tolerable.
Calling a migraine a headache is like calling a finger ripped from your hand a flesh wound. It may be true, but on a much, much bigger scale.
Get better soon!
Feel Better !
OMG you guys almost made me holla up in here! I get so tired of trying to explain to people that a migraine is more than just a headache! At one of my previous jobs they got it when one of my co-workers wheeled my chair into the lunchroom and I curled up in a lounge chair with the lights off. I.was.done. Couldn't even drive home.
Chele I hope you feel better! I know what you're going through, just had one last week myself. I'm praying that they find away to stop these things.
Sending healing prayers your way!
I take Imitrex as well. But since I am out and haven't gotten a new prescription, last week I had to take something with codeine in it. Slept for a few hours and was able to make it in to work, a little sluggish of course. Thank God for Imitrex and the fact that I don't get them as strong as I used to. From 16 to my late 20's, I would be down for 12 hours or more, sometimes in tears!
For those that don't know:
A migraine is not just a bad headache. It is an intense, throbbing pain. Migraines can also cause nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. Most experts agree that migraine pain is caused by swollen blood vessels around the brain and certain nerves in the brain. However, the exact cause of migraines is not known. Left untreated, migraines can last from 4 hours to 3 days.
Migraines can also cause the following symptoms:
* Sensitivity to light
* Sensitivity to sound
* Nausea
* Aura
The most common symptoms of an aura include:
Visual changes:
* Seeing flashing lights
* Seeing jagged lines
* Blurred vision or blind spots
* Difficulty focusing
Changes with your body or senses:
* Numbness or tingling of the lips, face, or hands, on 1 or both sides
* Weakness in the arms or legs, usually on 1 side of the body
Speech or language changes:
* Not being able to understand words
* Not being able to speak normally/at all
Yep our Chele is going through some or all of this.
Feel better!!!
I too suffer from migraines. My prayers are with you. Feel better!
God bless and get well soon!
I wish modern medicine would come up with something better than dark rooms and knockout drugs for these. Don't forget to hyrdrate!
Migraines suuuck. I've had a few and I can't get with noise or any light in my room while it's happening.
Over- the-counter medications such as Advil Migraine (containing ibuprofen), Excedrin Migraine (containing aspirin, acetaminophen, caffeine), and Motrin Migraine Pain (containing ibuprofen) can be helpful.
A head massage can also help.
Feel better soon chica.
Maybe a tall cup of cocoa to alleviate stress. Uh, I meant cocoa not "cocoa" though now that I think about it... :-) Feel better
Ooohhh... sorry to hear this Chele.
Prayers, always. Feel better.
Thanks for the good luck wish. I sho' did need it. :)
Ooooh those are all kinds of horrible, been dealing with them since I was 10. Get better Chele! Prayers sent your way!
the memory of my last migraine several years ago has me sending prayers your way girl. find a dark room and some migraine medication and feel better!
And I thought my sinus headaches were intolerable! I knew migraines were bad but never knew the symptoms were this bad!! Is there a genetic component? One of my grad students gets migraines and she said her dad also has migraines so it made me wonder if their is something transmitted in the gene pool.
Yep! My mother gets them and unfortunately I have passed them on to my daughter. We also get the sinus headaches too, and of course your regular run of the mill headaches. Such a lovely inheritance! LOL
I hope you feel better soon Chele.
Feel better soon!
Feel better lady.
I wonder if a migraine headache is punishment for being mean to date or even your brother when you were younger?
Yes there is a genetic component. Women get migraines much more often then males. Migraines are associated with stress and hormones. No curse.
Let me say this if men got migraines at the same rate as women, there would be a cure. I'm just saying.
Speak brother!!! I only know one guy that gets them, but many many women!
God bless and get well soon!
