The Bron-Bron Re-Cap, Oscar Grant, Lohan and other news

For those of you living under a rock, LeBron James took all the airtime in the world Thursday night to announce that he is joining D.Wade and Bosh in Miami to play for the Heat. Robin Roberts scored the first one-on-one interview, it will air today (Friday) during Good Morning America on ABC. Enjoy the media frenzy. Here's my at-a-glance at who's happy and who's not after the announcement:

Happy J– Miami, they do love the blingswagger and no one brings it like LeBron (usually).

UnHappy L – The fourteen designers who begged him to wear their suits which he apparently declined, looking like a buppie lumberjack with a Rick Ross beard for some reason. Obama in the White House, wear a suit for primetime television youngster.

Happy J– Hoochies and Hos. Like I said last night on Twitter, the clatter of clear heels heading to Miami is deafening right now. The ranks of the Miami Chapter of Sports Groupies has just been multiplied by 100.

UnHappy L– Jordan… where was his primetime special? C'mon on, you know he's thinking it? Jordan stays tart nowadays.

Happy J– Tiger Woods! Finally sports folks can talk about somebody else.

UnHappy L– Savannah (LeBron's girlfriend), he's not gonna put a ring on it in South Beach, honey. There's a whole saying about taking sand to the beach.

Happy J– Gloria Allred, Savannah is already calling about the palimony suit.

UnHappy L– Cleveland. They kinda got hosed. But that was no cause to set the man's jersey aflame. Oh, and the owner Dan Gilbert sent out a letter to fans saying: "I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA championship before the self-titled former ‘king’ wins one" <~~Keeping it classy. No wonder he raised up.

Happy J– Laker fans, they'll take any excuse to bring up Sir Kobe and his rings.

UnHappy L– NFL Network, they are not going to be able to get Brett "I'm just as arrogant as LeBron" Favre to do a half-hour special. Cuts into his Barcalounger/BenGay time.

Happy J– ME! Because we can finally start talking about football now! Please!

In other news, that Oscar Grant verdict is a freaking travesty of justice. How a man shoots another one in the back, kills him and it's involuntary manslaughter is beyond me. Shout out to the East Bay for not setting the courthouse aflame... I know it was tempting.

In further news, were ya'll aware of this Tylenol/Motrin recall? This is the third one this year?!

In case you weren't aware. It's HOT. Everywhere. Welcome to climate change.

Who is surprised that Lindsay Lohan is going to jail? Oh and her defense attorney quit after Lindsay came to court with F*** Off written on her fingernails. Keep it pimpin' Linds.
BP says they'll have this "leak" stopped by July 27… they mean it this time. Anybody willing to take that bet?

And that's all the news you can use this fine Friday. Any to share? Thoughts, comments, insights? Feel free to share…
p.s.  So some browsers are showing J's and L's instead of smiley-faces and frownie-faces in the happy/not happy section above. Life is too short for me to figure out that programming glitch.

Loved your recaps. With all the gloom that has been in the media lately it was refreshing to read your commentary. I enjoyed how you mixed humor while still getting your point across.. Thanks..

I'll start from the bottom and work my way up to Lebron.
BP - suuuuuure, we'll wait for it.
Li-Lo - Her shock was priceless, I was laughing at her confusion. Now her attorney has mysteriously resigned
Heatwave - it is a beotch. My air is still not up and running. My electrician didn't tun the right wires.
Tylenol - This recall has had me bugging because Tylenol is the only thing I can really take. I did find Walmart with it still on the shelves and damnit I bought a bottle.
Oscar Grant - Just another reason not to trust the judicial system and cope, even though I am dating one, HA.
Bron - this was one the most classless things I have ever witnessed in my whole entire life. He could have given the Cavs owner a heads up with this one. I knew he would leave us and I made my peace with that a long time ago. I'd rather see him in Miami, than Chicago or New York. He just made a mockery of everything and that pissed me off more and more. He really screwed us and we all know he doesn't give an ish. So i am not mad with his decision, I am mad about how he went about making it and announcing it.

* Congratulations to LeBron. I was hoping the Knicks would get him, but NY peaked too early. Besides you can't think he's coming to New York just because it's New York.

* Call me cynical, but I wasn't surprised by the verdict at all. I know people are upset by the verdict, but at least the officer was convicted of something. The cops who shot Amadou Diallo weren't convicted. The cops who shot Sean Bell weren't convicted. In fact one of the cops involved in the shooting is suing Sean Bell's estate.

* I remember when they were lacing bottles of Tylenol with cyanide. That incident brought about tamper free bottles. Now stuff is getting into them anyway. Fun times.

* Being down south I've learned that staying in when it's real hot outside isn't such a bad idea.

* Poor Lindsay Lohan. What happened to her was a travesty of justice. Not since Martin Luther King was thrown in jail has such an abuse occurred in the justice system... OK, I confess while writing the last few sentences my tongue was firmly in cheek.

* It amazes me that BP has the technology to drill the holes, but not the technology for emergencies such as this one. Our dependency on oil and big business being cozy with the government has lead us to this catastrophe.

Co-sign with RozB...too funny! I will say that I actually enjoyed Dan's letter. It was hilarious, but why did he write it in comic sans? Was this a safety net so he can come back and say he was just joking?
Anywho...this is why I do NOT love NBA. I'm with you Chele...time for some NFL. Of course, since I live in the hometown of the Chefs...ha ha, we'll see how much cheering I'll actually be doing. :/
Be well, everyone and Happy Friday!

LeBron is a good player, blah blah blah... he's also obnoxious as hell for that ESPN special. I'm sorry... that was ridic. However Dan's letter? Unfreakinacceptable. LeBron deserves a ring and clearly after SEVEN years in Cleveland, it isn't happening. Shoulda thought about this moment in time, Dan. Shoulda thought about it. However, if I was Bron Bron's girl... uh-uh to Miami. UH-UH. Ain't she watch "Basketball Wives" 15 secs was all I needed to see to know the real.

I was wondering what Lindsey's atty said to her once the media got a shot of that fun nail painting. Oh well, homegirl know she made bank off Lindsey's stupid self. That girl doesn't WANT to do right, that's why she doesn't do it. Simple. And 90 days? Folks actin like she got sentenced to life. She needs something... everytime she gets sentenced she does like half a minute and it's over. Nah, girlfriend needs some real in her life.

And Oscar Grant? I'm like Leon X. I didn't think the man was going to get convicted at all. I'm not happy with manslaughter, but a)wasn't my fam he killed and b)with the track record of similar situations in Cali we have to count this as a "W" of some sort. Now if homeboy only gets probation, I might need to get super angry and renounce my American citizenship. (Note: I won't actually renounce it, cause aside from the fact that I couldn't live anywhere else (and not be filthy rich) while that used to be free, it now costs $450 to do... hayell nawl).

Like him or not, LeBron's marketing team won big.
Cav's owner came over real childish.
No one would take that BP bet
Lohan should be happy to still be alive
It's hell-like hot
That Oscar Grant story is disheartening no matter how you look it.
Great wrap up.

And I didn't realize the Tylenol recall was this massive. Since it's the only thing I can take, not a good look.

I was hoping LJ would come to Chicago but really, did he want to play with the spectre of Jordan over his back?
The rest of these stories give me the big frownie face.
Have a good weekend!

What he said. (weak cosign but he said it better than I would have)

I could give two you-know-whats about another baller and his job changes. I keep taking psychic hits about the continued devaluation of lives of people of color. Not everyone can be a "King James" (and shame on cleveland for elevating a child over athletic ability in the first place!) but almost all of us can be an Oscar Grant or Michael Cho.

Looks like LeBron took the easy way out to me. Taking on the challenge of winning a title for his hometown in Cleveland would have been worth several championships with the new, stacked "Big Three" in Miami. He should have stayed the course in Cleveland, and his popularity would continue to soar, as well as his income!

Did you all steal the heat from LA? It's been gray as heck outside all week! Meanwhile, my mom mentions how hot it is in Chicago every time I talk to her... :-/
