The Obligatory “It’s Friday and I’m too tired to write a post” post

I love ya'll (the majority of ya'll anyway) but this week wore me out. I was supposed to be taking the week off to finish up my short story but then I found had something that simply had to be said everyday. SO… today's the day I punt. Here are a few things on my mind:

  • Is it bad that I like that Jamie Foxx/Justin Timberlake/T.I. song Winner? It's catchy… sue me.

  • Be forewarned, if Sarah Palin runs for President of these here United States and wins… I quit. The entire country. You can find me on the family goat farm outside of Georgetown, Guyana. Yes we actually have one. No, I've never seen it. As long as I have wi-fi, air conditioning, indoor plumbing and rum - I'm good.

  • Television summer season is about to kick off. I (of course) am feenin' for new Leverage:

  • Why are people so surprised that Alicia Keys is pregnant and engaged to Swizz Beatz? She meant bidness when she wrecked that home. She's in it to win it. (But if I were her, I wouldn't leave Swizzie alone in the studio with the latest pop starlet)

  • For those of you who didn't catch it on Facebook, here's the cover of my new book due out Feb 2011. I hate it less than my last cover. And sure, in the book she is described as cocoa-colored (toasted walnut I believe I said) with straight jet black hair but hey... some battles you fight, others... Yes, I know she looks like a young Debbie Allen with malicious intent. That's all I have to say about that:

Any thoughts on my thoughts? Any thoughts of your own? Who has plans for Memorial Day? Enjoy the long weekend…

It does seem to have been a bit of a tense week here in 'your little made up world' :-) I went back to read yesterday's comments and wow is all I can say. Speaking of made up worlds, I've been thinking of writing about experiences past and present like I was writing a letter to a friend. Unlike you, I'm not a writer and it isn't as if I think anybody would read it. But there is something I have learned going through this tricky time. The casual people in your life flee like rats from a sinking ship. The ones I know very well like family can't seem to stop projecting their fear and doubt about my abilities and survival. There doesn't seem to be anybody with whom I can just have an ordinary conversation. So I figure why not have an imaginary friend I write to for a while until things are better. I used to write long chatty letters to my grandparents and my cousin, but none of them are around any more. Anyway, it was reading your blog these last months that gave me this idea. I hope you did finish the short story and you, your family, and your readers have a great holiday weekend. Best of wishes.

Visiting a friend in STL for the weekend... Can't wait to have Monday off. That's about it. This week wore me out, too.

Sarah Palin has to explain why it was OK when recovering drug addicts fresh out of prison were living next door, yet she's creeped out about a guy writing a book about her. http://bit.ly/9r5qby

You're coming to my city and no one posted a warning sign? Just kidding :-) Hope you enjoy yourself while you're here.

Sarah Palin is making more money on the speaking circuit than she ever would as President. Besides, for all her wishy washy comments about possibly running, Palin knows she wouldn't make it past the Iowa Caucus.

I guess it's safe to say, Alicia Keys isn't worried about the whole karma rebound thing... I just hope, there is a pre-nup along with the baby shower and wedding plans. Am I the only cynic who wouldn't be surprised if a wedding between these two never happens?

Sarah Palin will never be president. There is no way. I can't fathom it.

As far as Alicia Keys, I will say this. A baby is a blessing and a gift. Unfortunately, the gift was bestowed upon someone without an ounce of morals. How will the conversation go with her son/daughter on dating when they get older? "Its ok to follow your heart, even if he/she is married, get yours." Yeah, that is what we need more of.

Congrats on the book darling!! Have a great weekend!

On Alicia Keys: As Wendy Williams always say, "The way you got him is the same way he'll leave you." Somebody better tell her. . .

-I have not heard Jaime Foxx's song...probably I will
-Sarah Palin for president..ROTFLMAO
-Leverage...never seen nor heard of it
-Alicia Keys pregnant...not surprise at all
-I thought authors had control of the "creative aspect"of their books? Oh well, I just put this one on my reading list. I read your other book; I like it.

I will be out of town for the weekend, and I wish Bougieland people a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!

Oh Chele, that song is so pop...
Leverage sneak peak!
I like this cover better than the last one. They had Roman looking all hard when he was the nicest guy...
Enjoy the weekend.

I can't stand Alicia Keys, there I said it. I use to be a fan, but now I am not. All her songs about karma, being a super-woman and unbreakable families and people all means nothing now because of her actions IMHO. I know I am taking it more seriously than most and I am generally not a negative person, but I just had to let it out. I am so disappointed. Wew, and I know that was so not bougie!!! Ok onward and upward thanks for letting me vent.

Oh and Swizz does not get blameless either, at least get a divorce first before you start pursuing other people!!! SMH But I am not a fan of his.

* confused expression* learning something new every day, Authors don't get to pick the covers of their books . I feel that isn't fair but good luck on your new book! Just ordered the 1st on kindle...

Why did Alicia Keys get away with homewreckin ?

That song is light, fun goodness. I like the cover! I am going to buy and read no matter what it looks like. I am going to relax this weekend. Trying for drama free holiday.

Celeb exemption I guess.

Authors (especially new ones) have control over very little. Maybe by book 4 or 5? *fingers crossed* Enjoy your weekend!

This cover is 100% better than your last. In 4 or 5 more books, you should be able to get the cover that want!!!

And to all of this I say - works for me. It's a holiday weekend, I'm going to sit in the shade with my drink and some refills. Unless you're going to swing by with whatever you're grilling this weekend - can I get the garlic salmon if you're taking requests?

I'll be driving the Dallas area this weekend. Can I get the Bougie Hookup on a plate? I'll just knock twice on the back gate, whisper "BougieLand Rocks" and wait. ;-)

Hey Bougie! I follow your blog faithfully. I don't do coffee, I do Black 'n Bougie. Its's my morning pick me up! I am a huge fan of Leverage--Hardison Rocks! I am also looking forward to the return of Burn Notice and Royal Pains. I have commented on many of your posts mentally and verbally, but never in print. But you hit on one of my biggest pet peeves. I read a lot of different types of books, but romances are a guilty pleasure of mine. It totally grates when the author gives you a mental picture of their character and it is the total opposite of the people pictured on the cover of the book. Its the cover that usually pulls you in. You turn the book over and read the synopsis and picture the people on the cover in that situation. Then you read the description of the characters inside the book and your mind gets a mental picture and then says, "huh?!" So you close the book and look again and your mind compares the two and says, "well, if Mark is tall and dark...who the h-- is this?!"

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the cover was that Debbie Allen still looked good, lol.
