WARNING: those of you used to quality meaningful music may be mortally wounded by these two songs. You've been warned... carry on.
In honor of Music Monday, I have two songs I would like to drop-kick into the S.No.B. (So Not Bougie) files. "Pregnant" by R. Kelly (featuring Tyrese, Robin Thicke and The Dream) and "Baby by Me" by 50 cent (featuring Ne-Yo). Now beyond the fact that I had to look up half of these folks, I just have one question: When did it become sexy to sing about knocking people up?
Here are some classy lyrics from R:
Girl you make me wanna get you pregnant,
That's what I told her,
Girl you make me wanna get you pregnant,
Lay your body down and get you pregnant,
Like you are,
Knock you up, pregnant
And here's 50 keeping it classy:
Have a baby by me, baby! Be a millionaire (Ohhhh)
Have a baby by me, baby! Be a millionaire (Come see what I mean)
Have a baby by me, baby! Be a millionaire (owww)
Be a millionaire, Be a, Be a millionaire
Girl I want you to give me what you got and give me more
Girl you can start on top or on fours
You know I like it, when you get into it
Don't nobody do it, uh, like I do it

I am VERY excited about hearing from Sade again. Big Win for some real music.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Yes, I caught my daughter singing along to Baby by Me the other day and we went ten rounds. But YEAH - Sade is coming back!
Sade and D'Angelo - classic talents. These other two... I have no words.
please tell me you made that up. i begging you...
I did warn you!
I don't think Kells or 50 are repping for the bougie set.
Thanks for the Sade information, I adore her. What happened to 50 cent? He was supposed to be the next great epic rapper, this ain't it. Kells is just nasty.
Le Sigh... no - I had not heard about that one.
Michele - that is TERRIBLE. I mean terrible! Ugh.
Oh I weep for the children who have to grow up thinking this is quality music.
Yes, let me play the D'Angelo over and over again to wipe the memory of that other crap from my mind.
I'm traumatized now.
Who is worse, the artist who makes it or the consumer who buys it? Wow - it is truly L'il Wayne's world
So have you heard the response to 50's song? It goes, have a baby by me and be on welfare... SMH
I am not surprise; creativity no longer exist in entertainment (music, movies, etc.). I feel most of the entertainers are "dogs chasing their own tails"; they are going in circles and probably don't even know it. Nowadays, people are either stuck in the past or too much in the future. What about the present?? What happen to moving forward and creating new things, challenging yourself?? By the way, the record companies are all about making money and don't care about quality of music and talent. Also, the consumers are at fault too. :)
You would think with all the bad publicity R. Kelly has received that he'd stop making sexually explicit songs. Since I'm not a fan of his this is the first time I've read those lyrics (wasn't interesting in peeping the video) and I'm just appalled. *sigh* But because I'm sure both songs have hot beats society will drop it low and probably do some other things to these songs without thinking of the possible ramifications the lyrics have on our children.
I heard Sade's new hit, yes I'm claiming it, Soldier of Love, and I have to say, she's back!!! I can't wait for her to tour.
The rest, there's no point in commenting on that trash. But folks buy it, so they continue to make it. Just trifflin.
