I awoke this morning to find that Prez 44 has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize! There's no downside to this people... none. From MSNBC:
OSLO, Norway - President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.Nobel observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline.
Already the wingnuts are saying he won because he's a rock star and hadn't done anything to deserve it, isn't that what they said about his election as well? So I have the same response for both issues: deal with it! And by the way, please go out to www.nobelprize.org and research the history as well as what they were looking for this year before you come at me with the "he didn't deserve it" nonsense.
Let's just admit that some folks are hating because they couldn't win their 5th grade science fair, some folks are hating because Obama just IS THAT DUDE, and some are hating because that's what they do.
I, for one, will be popping the bubbly later on as I do the happy dance. Love it when smart people are recognized for brilliance. So take a moment and pop a bottle, send President Obama some love. Congrats, Barry!

I can only imagine how distraught poor Bill Clinton must have felt when he heard th news this mornig. He probably looked over at Hill and said damn....that boy from nowhere keeps stealing from us. First the oval office and now the nobel peace prize. LOL.
Glad to see someone complimenting him. The Twittersphere is all atwitter with hate this morning and it's not the wingnuts, it's people with a good amount of common sense. Of course, they would be the same people that don't know why the prize is awarded and couldn't tell you any past winners. <sigh> This being black and proud is a hard thing sometimes.
Go Barry! Go. I see you doing it up. For all the ignants out there - he won for his ambitions and philosophies, not actions already taken.. which means he could win again when his work is done... ha!
Go Prez 44! Now me and the boo have another reason to celebrate this weekend. (The other being my birthday.) I am too proud right now. And I join you *in my Katt Williams voice* "there is a lot of stuff that is bullshiggity, but this ninja right here, this ninja right here, is NOT one of them."

I believe I will sip a little something in honor of our prize-winning Prez. for those who can't take a second and enjoy the win... sad for you. US needs as much overseas good will as possible.

Clink! Toasting with my coffee mug - this news raised my spirits today. I think it's such an opportunity for America to shine on the world stage.
Wow the haters rolled out in force. Usually this is cause for HUGE national pride and celebration. Almost embarrassed for the country - true stripes coming out. In my world, we celebrate good news with a sip or two, glad to see BougieLand agrees.
