It's been a minute since we discussed bougie inclinations. Could be that the long hot summer has caused your bougenificence to dip a little bit. Maybe you are ready to tighten up your bouge game and take it to the next level. Maybe I needed to write something quick and easy since I spent hours figuring how to upgrade the comments section? At any rate, for your reading entertainment and JUST in case you were feeling the need to check your bouge temperature, here are a few more quick and easy tests for you. You MIGHT be bougie if:
- You thought the world could have survived without Soul Plane and Big Momma's House 2.
- You can wear an outfit from Ross Dress for Less and make it look like Chanel Couture.
- You have a personal shopper. überBougie if it's at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, or Bergdorf Goodman.
- You have been called an Oreo so many times you went ahead and bought stock in Nabisco.
- White people frequently tell you one of the following:"You are so articulate" "You are very intelligent" "You are different from other black people I know"
- You know that Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutain and Jimmy Choo are not some good looking men, but fabulous shoe artists.
- You have studied a foreign language and can speak it (no, ebonics doesn't count)
- You are familiar with spices and seasonings beyond Lawry's Seasoned Salt, pepper and ketchup.
- You can name Museums in three major cities (we'll spot you the Louvre)
- You enjoy eating different types of international cuisine. This does not mean dipping the chicken nuggets in sweet and sour sauce.
Any bouge sightings to share?
[By the way, Chris Brown's bowtie (from last night's unfortunate Larry King interview) was not bougie. That sh*t was just pretentious. You can't beat down your girlfriend and think a baby blue satin bowtie makes it all better.]

I agree. Your writing style is such a pleasure to read. I have been guilty of lurking for a while but I love the blog and wanted to say the new comments are great. Took a minute to load but that might be my computer speed

I like the new comments thread. We know that I am Bougie in training. I haven't been called an Oreo, but my peers think I am just so smart. I speak basic French, but I am rusty. I use to read and write in Latin (so can't now, but I can recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Latin). I get down in the kitchen, so needless to say my spice game is the business. (* see still bougie in training, I think the correct phrasing would be, I enjoy to cook, therefore I have a variety of spices. LOL). Ross, Marshall's, and Burlington's are my best friends and I do believe I wear it well. I know about Manolo and Jimmy Choo, don't own any but I know who they are. I enjoy museums but couldn't list any in other cities, but I know just about all the one in my own city {Go B-more!}. Soul Plane and Big Momma's House 2 just make me shake my head and feel so ashamed, but everybody has to pay their bills some how.
* I do miss my tagline name of Lady4Christ but I can get over that.
We also could have done without the Madea phenomenon. I'm really over the shucking and jiving at this point. Spike Lee may not have said it in the best way, but I totally agree that Tyler Perry is not doing us any favors.
Ouch, I actually own all of the Tyler Perry plays and movies, albeit some I have loved greatly and some not so great but at the end of the day I respect Tyler Perry. He pulled himself up out of the gutter and made something out of his life. Most of his movies do have the same subplot but I like the subplot. This life can weigh on you but with faith and love you can survive. I actually plan on going to see "I Can Do Bad All by Myself", going to the matinee of course, but going to go none the less.

lol first let me say I didn't have a problem w his bowtie..I guess im the only one who didn't ..i liked it. I relate to 1,2, 5,6, 8 and 10..but I dont consider myself bougie...no worries...im just me :)
